Lead the engineering, operation, maintenance, and strategic development of electrical power systems supporting tokamak operations, plasma-heating systems, diagnostics, controls, and facility infrastructure. Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electrical power for fusion experiments while managing engineering staff, contractors, budgets, and system upgrades.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems supporting fusion operations.
• Ensure reliable operation of pulsed-power, power-conversion, switchgear, transformer, grounding, and protection systems.
• Lead planning and execution of electrical infrastructure upgrades for experimental campaigns and facility modernization.
• Direct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of power-system failures.
• Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Manage electrical engineering staff, technicians, and contractors.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.
• Ensure compliance with DOE, OSHA, NFPA, and applicable electrical safety standards.
• Coordinate with operations, controls, diagnostics, and experimental science teams to support facility objectives.
• Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and readiness assessments for new systems and upgrades.
• Support long-term strategy for power-system reliability, availability, and capacity growth.

• Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and eleven or more years of engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

• Preferred: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering.

• Significant experience (typically 10+ years) with:

• High-voltage power systems

• Power distribution and protection

• Power electronics and converters

• Industrial control systems

• Utility interconnections

• Large research, energy, nuclear, or industrial facilities

• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Knowledge of electrical safety programs, lockout/tagout, arc-flash analysis, and NFPA 70E.

• Familiarity with power-system studies such as:

• Load flow

• Short-circuit analysis

• Protective relay coordination

• Grounding analysis

• Power-quality assessment
