Our Hamilton, Washington facility specializes in manufacturing and machining large, complex composite and metallic structures for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are installed on fighterâ¯jets, bombers, rockets and space vehicles.
Department Summaryâ¯
The Maintenance Engineering department supports this effort with a team of highly skilled Mechanical Engineers and Automation Engineers. This advanced team maintains and installs some of the industry’s largest milling machines, autoclaves, NDI machines, and other such equipment. Our world-class milling machines are designed and built in-house, and this team is critical to their operation.
Roles and Responsibilitiesâ¯
âââThe Engineering Manager – Maintenance leads and develops the engineering teams that support maintenance operations in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for providing technical direction, driving process improvements, and ensuring equipment reliability to support production goals. The Engineering Manager - Maintenance will partner closely with maintenance, production, and quality teams to optimize performance, reduce downtime, and maintain compliance with aerospace industry standards.ââ
The following essential job functions are performed as a âEngineering Manager - Maintenanceâ:
- ââLead the planning and execution of scheduled and reactive maintenance events (short- and long-term) across production and facilities
- âOversee the development and implementation of Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) and Planned Maintenance (PM) procedures to maximize asset uptime and address unplanned failures
- âDirect and prioritize engineering support for equipment breakdowns, fault diagnosis, and resolution to minimize production downtime
- âProvide leadership and guidance to engineering and technical staff to ensure effective coordination of equipment modifications and repairs with minimal production impact
- âManage, coach, and develop maintenance engineering teams, fostering technical growth, problem-solving skills, and career development
- âApprove and guide the design, build, or procurement of specialized components, fixtures, or parts to support maintenance repairs or equipment upgrades
- âStay current with emerging equipment, technologies, and maintenance best practices, introducing improvements where beneficial
- âMaintain an operational overview of production processes and facilities, collaborating with management to implement enhancements for optimal results
- âEnsure compliance with safety regulations, 5S, AS9100, and Nadcap standards in all maintenance and engineering activities
- âParticpate in vendor relationships for equipment, materials, and parts procurement, including, specification review, and capital equipment installation and commissioning
- âIdentify and manage critical spare part requirements for new and existing equipment to reduce downtime risks
- âEnsure accurate documentation and control of engineering drawings, records, revisions, and updates
- âPartner with Operations Managers to identify risks in the production process and lead mitigation strategies
- âReview and approve maintenance-related test procedures, results, and recommendations for changes to products or methods
- âDrive accountability for meeting deadlines, maintaining high performance under pressure, and ensuring responsiveness by the maintenance engineering team
- âPerform other related leadership duties as assigned.â
Basic Qualificationsâ¯

- High school diploma or GED requiredâ¯
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints, isometric drawings, work orders, written procedures, and other technical documentationâ¯
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, follow process instructions, and monitor machine controllersâ¯
- Consistent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workâ¯
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in Englishâ¯
Preferred Qualificationsâ¯
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automation Engineering, or a similar field.
- Experience in robotics or automation.
- 5+ years of engineering or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and equipment reliability.
Detailed Wage Informationâ¯
Wage range for this role is betweenâ¯$90,000-$140,000, plusâ¯benefits and eligibility forâ¯a discretionary bonus. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work and accessâ¯assignments.â¯The range provided isâ¯Janicki'sâ¯estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills and abilities.â¯
