Description
Nuclear Fabrication Engineering Manager
Our client is a leader in equipment fabrication, material supply, machining, engineering, and repair services to the nuclear industry (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, coolers, tanks, obsolete replacement equipment, etc.). Due to a recent promotion, they now have an opening for a Fabrication Engineering Manager.
The position is located in Rochester Hills, Michigan – named in 2025 by US News & World Report as the 9th best place to live in the United States. Excellent schools, exceptional family-oriented parks, and safe, quiet suburban neighborhoods.

This is a high-visibility role with real upward mobility. The person hired will help expand the engineering function, build the team, shape fabrication processes, and take on broader leadership responsibility as the business grows.
Requirements:
BS degree in Welding Engineering preferred, will consider BSME.
7+ years of engineering experience in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, custom fabrication for, nuclear, defense, or similar regulated manufacturing.
Experience leading engineers or technical personnel.
Strong knowledge of welding-intensive, engineered-to-order fabrication.
Working knowledge of ASME Sections III, VIII, and IX.
Experience with ASME Code-stamped fabrication and WPS, PQR, and WQR documentation.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, codes, and fabrication documents.
U.S. citizenship due to federal contract requirements.
Preferred
Commercial nuclear industry experience.
NQA-1 or 10 CFR 50 Appendix B experience.
Pressure-vessel or heat-exchanger fabrication background.
Experience replacing or refurbishing obsolete nuclear equipment.
Familiarity with AWS welding codes and engineering design software.
Responsibilities:
Lead engineering for ASME Code pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and welded nuclear equipment.
Review customer specifications, OEM drawings, codes, and contract requirements.
Develop and approve shop drawings, fabrication instructions, and job travelers.
Support welding, machining, forming, heat treatment, NDE, and final assembly.
Oversee WPS, PQR, WQR, and welding qualification activities.
Resolve technical and fabrication issues affecting quality, schedule, and cost.
Support new fabrication, obsolete-equipment replacement, repair, and refurbishment.
Coordinate with Quality, Manufacturing, Project Management, Sales, customers, and suppliers.
Lead, mentor, and help grow the engineering team.
