The EDP is a rotational program that develops recent engineering graduates through technical training, hands-on field rotations, project exposure, report-outs, and mentorship across Protection and Automation. This role will support the technical and professional development of EDP participants as they build deeper knowledge in substation protection, automation, controls, communications, FATs, SATs, commissioning, and field execution. As the program continues to grow, this manager will partner with the Technical Talent Director, Engineering Managers, Power Academy, mentors, and project teams to coordinate deployments, technical training, performance feedback, safety expectations, overtime approvals, important metrics, and continuous program improvements. This hybrid position is based at our corporate headquarters in Wendell, NC. You'll make a difference by: Support the day-to-day management of the Power Protection & Automation EDP. Coach, mentor, and develop EDP participants throughout their rotational experience. Provide technical guidance to help participants build deeper knowledge in protection, automation, relay applications, controls, communications, FATs, SATs, commissioning, and field execution. Coordinate training schedules, field rotations, site assignments, report-outs, and deployment plans in partnership with Engineering Managers and project teams. Partner with Power Academy, mentors, and domain experts to improve technical curriculum, hands-on learning, and program consistency. Track participant performance, indicators, safety, field readiness, employee-overtime, and development progress. Support mentors and field teams by helping reinforce technical expectations, learning objectives, and development plans for each participant. Support recruiting, onboarding, and selection activities for future EDP cohorts. Drive continuous improvement of the EDP curriculum, rotation structure, onboarding process, report-out expectations, and overall program experience. Create an environment where early-career engineers feel supported, challenged, and prepared for long-term engineering roles within PPA. You'll win us over by having the following qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field. Three (3) or more years of experience in power systems, MV or HV switchgear, power protection and automation, controls, commissioning, field service, or technical project execution. Experience leading, mentoring, coaching, or developing engineers or technical employees with or without direct reportees. Working knowledge of protection relays, commissioning, field execution, switchgear testing, Field Acceptance Tests, and Site Acceptance Tests. Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple participants, deployments, schedules, collaborators, priorities, critical metrics, and development plans. Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% domestically. Must be physically in the Wendell, NC office 2+ days a week.
