The Engineering Manager will provide strategic and hands-on leadership for Engineering, Estimating, and Quality within a rapidly growing precision machining business serving aerospace, defense, medical, and other highly regulated industries. This role is responsible for driving technical excellence, manufacturing efficiency, quality performance, quoting accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Description

  • Lead and develop engineering, estimating, and quality teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between customers, engineering, and manufacturing operations.
  • Provide leadership for CNC machining, tooling, fixturing, process development, automation, and manufacturing optimization initiatives.
  • Drive productivity improvements, cycle time reductions, quality enhancements, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Manage estimating activities, including manufacturability reviews, cost analysis, quotations, and profitability improvement initiatives.
  • Review customer drawings and specifications to develop accurate labor, material, tooling, and subcontract cost estimates.
  • Oversee quality systems and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, process controls, traceability, configuration management, and audit readiness.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including PPAP, FAI, validation, qualification, and production launch support.
  • Collaborate with customers and suppliers to improve manufacturability, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Support capital planning, budgeting, manufacturing expansion, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve KPIs related to engineering effectiveness, quality, productivity, throughput, and profitability.
  • Participate as a key member of the senior leadership team, aligning technical capabilities with long-term business objectives.

Profile

A successful Engineering Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 7-10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in precision machining environments
  • Leadership experience managing engineering, quality, estimating, or technical teams
  • Strong CNC machining background with hands-on manufacturing knowledge
  • Expertise in tooling, fixturing, GD&T, blueprint reading, and process development
  • Experience with quoting, cost estimating, and manufacturing planning
  • Strong customer-facing communication and project management skills
  • Proven ability to drive operational and technical improvements
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001 or comparable quality systems
