Summary
The Engineering Manager will lead the design and execution of mechanical equipment solutions while managing and developing a team of engineers. This position provides technical direction and design oversight for complex industrial equipment while partnering with Project Management, Operations, Controls, Sales, and Manufacturing.
As an Engineering Manager, Mechanical Equipment you will:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers focused on capital equipment and material handling systems.
Provide technical direction, design oversight, and engineering coaching across projects.
Support workload planning, resource allocation, and project prioritization.
Oversee the mechanical design of conveyors, stackers, and other industrial equipment used in heavy manufacturing environments.
Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, layouts, and specifications.
Ensure designs meet performance, safety, manufacturability, and cost requirements.
Lead complex technical problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
Guide engineering decisions involving materials, mechanisms, structural integrity, and system performance.
Support installation planning and resolve field and commissioning challenges.
Partner with Project Management to support project schedules, budgets, and execution.
Collaborate with Operations and Manufacturing to ensure designs are production ready.
Work with Sales and customer-facing teams to support technical scoping and customer requirements.
Drive engineering best practices, standards, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience designing industrial machinery, capital equipment, or material handling systems.
Proven experience leading or managing mechanical engineering teams.
Strong mechanical design background within heavy industrial applications.
Proficiency with CAD tools such as Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Experience with conveyors, stackers, or large material-moving systems preferred.
Exposure to automation, controls, or integrated manufacturing systems preferred.
Experience within an OEM or custom equipment environment preferred.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturing principles preferred.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline required.
Salary Range
$120K–$150K annually
