Engineering Manager, Supply Chain & Retail Hardware - Technology Support Services - (Hybrid - Seattle, WA)

Job Description

Nordstrom is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for the hardware that powers our supply chain and corporate environments. This role owns the engineering strategy, lifecycle management, and technical standards for Zebra mobile computing and printing hardware deployed across our distribution centers, fulfillment centers, and supply chain facilities, as well as conference room / collaboration hardware supporting corporate offices. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with deep, hands-on hardware and device-security expertise.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of engineers responsible for supply chain hardware standards, deployment, and support.
• Own the technical roadmap for Zebra handheld and vehicle-mounted computers used in supply chain operations (warehouse scanning, RFID, pick/pack/ship workflows), including hardware refresh cycles, firmware/OS management, and MDM enrollment across distribution and fulfillment centers.
• Set standards and drive lifecycle management for Zebra industrial and label printing hardware (shipping label, carton, and pallet printers) deployed in supply chain facilities, including compatibility testing, throughput/durability requirements, procurement input, and break/fix strategy.
• Ensure supply chain hardware standards account for warehouse-specific operating conditions (wireless coverage, ruggedization, high-volume scan throughput, shift-based usage patterns).
• Oversee the engineering approach for conference room and collaboration hardware (video conferencing systems, displays, room controllers) supporting corporate office environments.
• Guide the team's work on device security and certificate management, including SHA-2 certificate lifecycle, PKI-based device authentication, and secure enrollment for supply chain hardware fleets.
• Partner with Supply Chain Operations, Distribution/Fulfillment Center leadership, and corporate Workplace/Facilities teams to align hardware standards with operational needs in each environment.
• Define and track KPIs for fleet health, incident volume, and mean time to repair/resolution across supply chain and corporate hardware categories.
• Manage vendor relationships (e.g., Zebra and other OEM/device partners) on roadmap alignment, escalations, and compatibility certification.
• Drive planning, prioritization, and execution for the team's Jira/Confluence workstreams, ensuring clear documentation of standards and processes.
• Participate in budgeting and total-cost-of-ownership analysis for hardware refresh and replacement programs.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of engineering experience with hardware, device management, or IT infrastructure; 2+ years in a people-management or team-lead role.
• Hands-on knowledge of Zebra (or comparable) handheld and vehicle-mounted mobile computing devices in a warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment center setting, including MDM/EMM tooling.
• Experience with industrial/label printing hardware and print management systems in a high-volume supply chain environment.
• Familiarity with conference room / AV and collaboration hardware deployment and support in a corporate setting.
• Working knowledge of digital certificate management (SHA-2/PKI) for device authentication and secure connectivity.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and communicate clearly with both engineers and business stakeholders across supply chain and corporate environments.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence (or similar tools) to manage engineering work and documentation.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience tracking fleet health, incident, and reliability metrics.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting hardware across a multi-site distribution or fulfillment center network.
• Background in warehouse management systems (WMS), RFID infrastructure, or supply chain automation.
• Background in physical security or asset protection technology environments.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, BigQuery/Looker, or similar operational reporting tools.

Location

• This role is based in Seattle, WA and requires four days in-office per week.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations.

Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$166,000.00 - $258,000.00 Annual
