Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading engineering initiatives related to product design, product manufacturing, supply chain, quality assurance and product support for LB Foster Transit Products Division.

Responsibilities (Essential Functions): 

1. Responsible for designing products and systems to meet specific transit rail industry requirements, company cost reduction initiatives, and product roadmaps.
2. Develops new technologies and incorporate them into differentiated products.
3. Leads internal review meetings to present and justify design selections.
4. Develops test program plans for product validation.
5. Creates 2D and 3D CAD models to be used for product realization.
6. Provides technical support and solutions to internal customers.
7. Supports estimating team with specification review and BOM selection, project managers with product drawings and technical submittals, and third-party manufacturing with process design and optimization.
8. Provides technical support and solutions to external customer in coordination with L.B. Foster Sales team.
9. Supports transit agency sales calls and create technical proposals.
10. Represents L.B. Foster at industry trade shows.
11. Manages and organizes engineering document database, including drawings, models, specifications, technical reports, and communications.
12. Responsible for quality assurance for Transit Products Division.
13. Serves as division ISO Quality Representative.
14. Leads quality initiatives and meetings to review quality related issues.
15. Represents division during ISO quality audits.
16. Responsible for managing division engineering team.
17. All other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, & License Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience required.
• 2+ years of managerial experience preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in rail industry preferred.
• Knowledgeable in the following materials and manufacturing processes: rubber and urethane molding, fiberglass molding, ductile iron casting, steel machining.
• Knowledgeable in ISO 9001 for engineering design and development.
• High level of proficiency in Solidworks CAD software, engineering design and drawing management utilizing Solidworks PDM are required.
• Proficiency in solid mechanics and the ability to analyze relevant product designs are required.

Education

Preferred

• Bachelors or better in Electrical Engineering
• Bachelors or better in Civil Engineering
• Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering
