We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Software Engineering to join our DevOps group in Poway, CA.
This position architects and manages the DevOps for growing and dynamic teams combining for over 600 software developers. This executive management position directly oversees teams of DevOps Engineers, Software Configuration Specialists, and Tool Developers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Manage all activities for Software Engineering DevOps group, including planning and managing of technical, programmatic & organizational performance to ensure quality, business, and financial objectives are achieved.
+ Participate in and coordinate the establishment of design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, testing, and integration.
+ Interact with internal and external representatives at various levels concerning resolution of technical and scheduling issues.
+ May participate in the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s).
+ Prepare and lead progress review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
+ May participate in the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities.
+ Manage the development of and ensure the security of the unit’s proprietary technology, and maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
+ Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
+ Participate in the development and adherence of software development processes. Will be the POC for customer and internal audits concerning the DevOps domain.

Job Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in software engineering or a related technical field as well as thirteen or more years of progressively complex engineering experience with at least seven of those years having management responsibilities
+ Must have a security clearance
+ Demonstrates technical expertise in the application of programming and software engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice.
+ Possesses a solid understanding of modern commercial tools used during all phases of software development. A deep understanding of Linux, GitLab, Pipelines, Artifactory, Containers, and AWS is a plus.
+ Possesses solid understanding of modern software development processes, standards, and DOD documentation
+ Possesses a solid understanding of Software Configuration Management standards
+ Can demonstrate the development of automation techniques for SCM and DevOps duties
+ Possesses project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
+ Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, technical and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
+ Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required. Effectively delegates tasks to subordinates on a regular basis to ensure leadership continuity.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required.
