SUMMARY
As an Engineering Manager at Trebor International, you will be responsible for the overall planning, direction, leadership, and administration of the engineering department. You will directly communicate and support the Mission, Vision and Values of IDEX and Trebor International. You will lead a multifaceted engineering team that is responsible for growing the business through development of new products, seeing products from concept to full release, and ownership of existing products. In addition to leading the engineering team, you will collaborate directly with other senior staff members and functional areas including Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, Quality and Technical Support. Success will be to continuously improve the quality, cost, and efficiency of existing product’s manufacturing line, as well as creating new opportunities to grow the business.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
+ Meet or exceed internal and external customer needs through active participation in policy making, strategic business planning, implementation of plans and direct customer contact. + Direct and lead the R&D and manufacturing engineering department by managing human and financial resources to maximize contribution to the overall Business Unit's strategic and business objectives. + Responsible for establishing and evolving product architecture, engineering design and support systems/tools, and driving efficiencies and continuous improvements in the manufacturing line. + Coach, train and support team members by setting an example of excellence in attitude, teamwork and performance, integrating total quality management and providing positive training and encouragement. + Represent management with all stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, and provide timely and quality communication to all stakeholders. + Provide technical support for Sales and Customer Service, as required, including technical customer site visits. + Collaborate with Quality and Supply Chain to optimize cost and supplier efficiency. + Collaborate with Operations to build quality into standard work and establish mistake-proofing activities to reduce finished goods inspection requirements. + Evaluate current processes and technology to identify areas of improvement and opportunities for advancement. + Manage the creation of clear, well-written technical support documentation and internal processes. + Work with customers directly on rapid iteration of products targeting specific problems, and outline and run customer application testing. + Lead or participate in special projects and assignments, as directed, at both the corporate and local level. + Keep abreast of changing industry standards and oversee compliance work. + Ability to identify and hire qualified engineering or technician candidates.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, movement within an office complex and in the field. + Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills required. + Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use. + Significant domestic and international travel may be required; travel environments will vary with exposure to industrial environments and geographic region.
JOB CONDITIONS
+ Exposure to a general manufacturing environment, which may include noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures. + Ability to work in cleanroom manufacturing settings, adhering to strict cleanliness and contamination control protocols. + May be required to obtain certification and operate heavy equipment as necessary. + Light machining, assembly, and testing of plastics and metal components. + Regular work within a standard office environment, requiring the use of computers and other office equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred; other technical degrees or equivalent industry experience will be considered based on relevance to the role. + 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in a product design, manufacturing, or sustaining support role. + Proficiency in utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement and problem solving. + Proficiency in leading root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys), CAPA, and cross-functional issue resolution. + Proven track record, demonstrated by a progressive level of growth in responsibility, including formal or informal experience leading teams. + Strong interpersonal and management skills. + Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical content and interact with internal teams, external partners, and customers. + Expertise in working with business reorganizations and globalization initiatives, including acquisition analysis/due diligence, preferred.
