Why This Role Matters
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead one or more cross-functional software engineering teams. This individual will provide both people leadership and technical direction while helping teams deliver complex, customer-facing products.
The Engineering Manager will partner closely with product owners, scrum masters, engineers, and business stakeholders to establish priorities, remove obstacles, and ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.
This position is well suited for a strategic, hands-on technology leader who enjoys developing engineering talent, improving delivery processes, and solving complex technical challenges.
How You'll Contribute
- Lead and provide technical oversight for one or more cross-functional engineering teams.
- Coach engineers through regular feedback, performance management, and professional development.
- Help clarify business and technical requirements before development begins.
- Establish and reinforce software development best practices.
- Review work for accuracy, quality, scalability, and compliance with organizational controls.
- Identify skill gaps, training needs, and talent development opportunities across the team.
- Coordinate technical dependencies within and across engineering teams.
- Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
- Work closely with scrum masters to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
- Participate in release planning, estimation, and delivery discussions.
- Help resolve technical blockers and manage risks that could impact delivery.
- Support architectural decisions involving new and existing systems.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or in a comparable technical leadership role within an Agile environment.
- Previous experience directly managing and developing software engineers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly when working through complex or ambiguous technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to align engineers, product teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand interconnected systems and dependencies.
- Broad technical knowledge across front-end development, backend engineering, quality assurance, and automated testing.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Angular, TypeScript, Kotlin, GitLab, and QA automation frameworks.
Basic Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex features and products in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build project plans, secure commitments, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive the resolution of blocking issues.
- Experience managing engineers and supporting their performance and career development.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead teams toward scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions.
- Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, scalability, and reliability.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing multiple programs, projects, or development teams simultaneously within an Agile environment.
- Hands-on expertise in at least one relevant technical area, including:
- Front-end development using Angular and TypeScript
- Backend development using Kotlin
- Quality assurance and test automation
- Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications and appropriately scoped engineering work.
- Ability to guide solution design across team and organizational boundaries.
- Experience establishing testing standards, delivery metrics, and measurable success criteria.
- Experience with source control, CI/CD, deployment, and development management platforms such as GitLab.
- Experience designing and building customer-facing digital products.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $200,000 to $230,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility. Final compensation will be determined based on geographic location, relevant experience, technical expertise, and other job-related qualifications.
