Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer operates in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, fabrication, and material handling. This role drives the adoption of new technologies such as automation, robotics, and computer-aided manufacturing systems to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
The position involves creating and analyzing 3D model-based data environments to optimize manufacturing workflows and produce digital work instructions. Leveraging expertise in materials and automated processes, the engineer defines operational procedures and build sequences that support operational excellence.
Additionally, this role evaluates equipment and tooling performance, identifies deficiencies, and leads corrective actions. The Manufacturing Engineer utilizes factory data to develop statistical process control (SPC) methods and integrates reporting and analytics tools for continuous improvement. The role also provides input to product design teams to ensure designs align with manufacturing capabilities and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret electrical, electromechanical, and cable schematics during development and production stages
- Create and update assembly work instructions to ensure efficient, accurate production
- Publish work instructions for use on the production floor
- Identify and maintain tool lists required for assembly processes
- Investigate technical issues and provide guidance to manufacturing operators
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot manufacturing failures and implement corrective actions
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing techniques to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Provide feedback to design teams on manufacturability and specification requirements
- Work closely with subject matter experts to implement manufacturing process improvements
- Adhere to established manufacturing engineering processes and procedures
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with 2+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to read and analyze electrical schematics and technical diagrams
- Experience in cable manufacturing and/or electromechanical assembly
- Ability to develop clear and effective assembly work instructions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- High attention to detail, especially in complex assembly environments
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in team settings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to achieve results independently
- Ability to manage multiple tasks across concurrent projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SAP or similar manufacturing systems (e.g., routings, bills of materials, quality records)
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement initiatives
- Exposure to electrical engineering concepts through education or work experience
- Familiarity with engineering design tools (e.g., Zuken)
