Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry and Physics within the College of Science and Engineering invites applications for an Engineering Outreach Coordinator or Liaison position in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE). The successful candidate will be expected to:
Design and implement outreach programs targeting K-12 students, potential transfer students at community colleges, educators, and the general public. Develop workshops and presentations with an emphasis on engineering concepts and build lasting partnerships with schools, community organizations, and industry partners. Collaborate with faculty and staff to leverage resources and expertise, develop engaging hands-on activities, organize outreach events, and evaluate program effectiveness through surveys, reports, and presentations. Create promotional materials and strategies to boost program awareness and participation and maintain an active online presence via social media and the department website. Manage budgets, ensure compliance with funding requirements, and pursue funding opportunities through grant writing to support outreach initiatives. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Department Chair and the College Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
An undergraduate or masters degree in a relevant field. Demonstrated ability and commitment to developing and coordinating educational or outreach programs in STEM or related fields. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work collegially and productively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in planning and coordinating educational or outreach programs, ideally with STEM or technical connections, and in building and maintaining partnerships with schools, industry, or community organizations. Ability to use digital platforms, social media, or multimedia tools to promote programs and expand outreach.
Driving Requirements
Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility. The position may require driving a personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart.
