The Engineering Program Manager is responsible for defining, leading, and executing complex technical programs involving chemical processes, electroplating, and advanced metal‑alloy development within a highly hands‑on R&D environment. This role combines direct technical contribution with program ownership, team leadership, and customer‑facing execution from early concept through commercialization.

Description

In this role you will report directly into the VP of Engineering and be responsible for:

  • Leading end‑to‑end technical program execution for chemistry‑, plating‑, and metallurgical‑focused development programs
  • Managing a program team of early‑career engineers, setting priorities, assigning work, and driving day‑to‑day execution
  • Facilitating customer programs from design to testing, analysis, reporting, and final delivery
  • Working hands‑on in the R&D lab with metal alloys, plating baths, chemical solutions, and characterization methods
  • Troubleshooting highly technical issues at the materials, grain‑structure, and electrochemical levels
  • Coordinating cross‑functional work across Engineering, R&D, Operations, and customer teams to ensure program success
  • Preparing polished updates, technical summaries, and progress reports for customers and senior leadership
  • Overseeing sample builds, small‑batch trials, plating evaluations, and process development activities
  • Driving program schedules, risk identification, resource allocation, and milestone achievement
  • Supporting global commercialization efforts, including periodic international travel

Profile

A successful candidate will have:

  • 10-15 years of experience in materials engineering, chemical engineering, or metallurgical science
  • At least 3 years managing engineering programs
  • Experience working with metal alloys, electroplating, corrosion science, surface treatments, or related chemical processes
  • BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Experience supervising small project teams and guiding early‑career engineers
  • Experience supporting customer programs, including presenting technical findings and managing expectations
  • A track record of solving complex, chemistry‑ and materials‑driven technical problems in a lab environment
  • Experience coordinating design, test, analysis, and process optimization activities
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to deliver polished updates to executives and external partners
