Engineering Project Manager

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading multiple capital equipment and manufacturing projects through planning, execution, validation, and production launch.
  • Developing and managing project scope, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Driving alignment across engineering, quality, operations, supply chain, facilities, sourcing, and leadership teams.
  • Monitoring project performance and proactively identifying, communicating, and resolving risks, issues, and resource constraints.
  • Evaluating and authorizing project changes that impact scope, schedule, cost, or technical strategy.
  • Managing equipment suppliers, contractors, and external partners throughout project execution.
  • Leading equipment design reviews, technical discussions, and project status reviews.
  • Coordinating Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), equipment installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Holding vendors accountable to contractual obligations, deliverables, schedules, and performance expectations.
  • Coordinating development of User Requirements Specifications (URS), risk assessments, and project deliverables.
  • Partnering with technical SMEs to ensure equipment designs meet manufacturing, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Supporting validation planning and execution, including FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, engineering studies, and process qualifications.
  • Facilitating change control activities and ensuring project compliance with applicable procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and managing capital expenditure requests (CERs), project budgets, and financial justifications.
  • Tracking project spending, forecasting capital requirements, and identifying opportunities to improve project return on investment.
  • Supporting long-term manufacturing strategy initiatives, insourcing efforts, automation programs, and capacity expansion projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of leading large-scale manufacturing or engineering projects, particularly involving capital equipment.
  • Strong background in manufacturing environments, especially within medical devices, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Proven experience managing external vendors, validation activities, and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project planning, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and drive results in fast-paced settings.
  • Experience with automation projects, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, change control, and validation standards.
  • PMP or other project management certifications.
  • Proficiency with project management tools like Microsoft Project or Smartsheet.
