About the Role:

The Engineering Project Planner is responsible for coordinating engineering workload, priorities, and project execution timing across assigned projects. This role works closely with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure the right engineering resources are aligned to the right work at the right time.

The Engineering Project Planner focuses on planning, monitoring, and adjusting engineering resource assignments based on project complexity, number of sections, deliverable requirements, schedule constraints, and current team capacity.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, proactive, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Align engineering resources to project needs based on required deliverables, due dates, and team capacity.
  • Build and maintain project-level engineering plans that identify required work, assigned resources, target dates, priorities, and known constraints.
  • Balance workload across engineers and designers to support on-time project completion while minimizing bottlenecks, overload, and resource conflicts.
  • Monitor resource availability, engineering capacity, active workload, upcoming demand, and projected constraints.
  • Escalate capacity concerns, schedule risks, missing information, and dependencies before they impact project schedules or engineering deliverables.
  • Work with Engineering, Project Management, and Operations leadership to understand project priorities, delivery commitments, customer-driven schedule changes, approval status, scope changes, and priority shifts.
  • Communicate project status, risks, priority changes, resource needs, and planning concerns clearly and consistently.
  • Support weekly or daily engineering planning meetings by preparing workload views, project status updates, resource schedules, and action-item tracking.
  • Serve as a central coordination point between Engineering, Project Management, Production, Quality, and other internal stakeholders to ensure deliverables support downstream manufacturing and project execution requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination, resource planning, production planning, engineering coordination, or a similar role.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, electrical equipment, construction, industrial, or engineered-to-order environment.
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects.
  • Ability to understand project scope, complexity, dependencies, and resource constraints.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across engineering, project management, production, and leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ERP/MRP systems, project management software, or similar planning tools.
  • Ability to identify risks early, escalate appropriately, and help drive corrective action.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must have vision correctable to 20/20 and be able to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, boots, gloves, etc.).
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and work at heights for extended periods.

Work Environment:

May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
