The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a Engineering/Robotics Instructor. Job Code 006, Time Schedule 380 (190 days). Extended time may be required before and/or after the school year for this position which would be compensated at the hourly extended time rate. Collective Bargaining Unit- AEA. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Currently hold an Integrated Math or Science license issued by the state of Ohio and eligible to teach students in middle school grade levels, or,
Currently hold a Career Technical teaching license issued by the state of Ohio and eligible to teach courses in the Engineering & Science Technologies (F6) pathway; or,
Possess an Ohio five-year professional license or four-year alternative resident educator license that includes middle school grade levels.
Candidates without an aligned CTE, Math or Science license must complete the Middle School Validation training with the Ohio Department of Education prior to employment. There is no cost for this training and it consists of approximately (30) hours of self-paced coursework.
Candidates without an Ohio teaching license must complete the eligibility process as determined by your level of formal education. The following indicates your current level of formal education and the minimum years of recent employment required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering with evidence of at least two years of recent work experience in one of the engineering career fields; or
Associate's degree in engineering with evidence of at least three years of recent work experience in one of the engineering career fields; or
High school diploma or equivalent and evidence of at least five years of recent work experience in one of the engineering career fields.
New hires, not currently certified, must be eligible to enroll in a teacher education program leading to a five-year teaching license.
In addition to teacher licensure, the applicant will:
Obtain and keep current all industry standards certification/credentials or designations required by the state for career technical funding.
Meet all district requirements for entry-year teachers including Four Year Resident Educator and/or PAR.
Complete third party curriculum training such as Project Lead The Way (PLTW). The training must be finished during the first year of being assigned to teach an applicable course.
