Position Description: Material Engineer will provide engineering support and technical guidance to the engineering disciplines for the HLW vitrification design and fabrication processes. The Materials Engineer will perform in-depth engineering analysis, and develop material engineering solutions to address any emergent material engineering related issues. Other key functions of Material Engineer is to develop and maintain material engineering specifications, and resolve material quality issues. The Materials Engineer is responsible for reviewing and performing engineering design deliverables to ensure technical adequacy in areas such as coatings, material selection, material compatibility and protection, welding, and metallurgy to help complete the design. The Engineering Specialist will be interfacing with other engineering disciplines and functional groups to solve complex issues associated with the High-Level Waste Facility. This position requires interface with groups across the project, supporting Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC). This work will be performed under direction of a senior technical specialist, Project Engineers, and/or Design Authority.
