Compensation: $70,000.00/yr
The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operation, maintenance, and reliability of hotel engineering systems to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted property operations. This role supports the Director of Engineering in leading the Engineering Department, assigning and prioritizing workloads, monitoring work quality, and maintaining guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, plant equipment, and recreational facilities in accordance with operational requirements, safety standards, regulatory obligations, and luxury hospitality service expectations.
Responsibilities:
Budget and Cost Control:
- Support the management of departmental labor, material, utility, and service contract expenditures in alignment with approved budgets and operational priorities.
- Monitor the use of spare parts, tools, chemicals, and consumables to minimize waste and maintain appropriate stock levels for routine and preventive maintenance requirements.
Team Leadership and Work Management:
- Supervise daily engineering operations and allocate work orders, preventive maintenance assignments, inspections, and emergency response activities across the property.
- Assign and prioritize workloads to support operational needs, asset reliability, and timely completion of maintenance activities.
- Train, coach, and monitor engineering team members to maintain high standards of workmanship, productivity, documentation accuracy, and professional conduct.
- Coordinate with contractors, service vendors, and internal departments to complete inspections, certifications, repairs, and projects with minimal disruption to guests and hotel operations.
Building Systems and Equipment:
- Maintain operational reliability and troubleshooting capability for BMS, HVAC systems, including Daikin VRV/VRF systems, ground source water pumps, FCUs, exhaust and fresh air fans, heat exchangers, and energy recovery units.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of plumbing and water systems, including water softeners, domestic water distribution, clogged toilets, drainage systems, grease interceptors, and piping infrastructure in copper, PVC, and CPVC.
- Monitor and support electrical infrastructure, including DG backup systems, UPS, transformers, main and sub panels, lighting systems, power distribution, and associated controls.
- Ensure the continuous and safe operation of life-safety and guest-critical systems, including fire pumps, fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, emergency systems, elevators, snow melt systems, and other essential building services.
- Supervise the operation and preventive maintenance of kitchen equipment, laundry washers and dryers, fitness center equipment, spa equipment, sauna, steam room, pools, and pool filtration systems.
- Support general building maintenance and finishing work, including practical knowledge of painting, carpentry, concrete repair, and related upkeep activities to maintain the property in a safe and presentable condition.
Safety, Compliance, and Documentation:
- Adhere to all OSHA, local, state, and federal safety codes and regulations.
- Support fire/life safety systems testing and emergency response procedures Conduct routine inspections of mechanical, electrical, utility, and plant areas to identify risks, abnormal conditions, and opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and asset life cycle performance.
- Oversee hazardous work activities and ensure compliance with lockout/tagout procedures, permit-to-work requirements, PPE standards, fire safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and departmental safety practices.
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance activities, as well as guest room and public area work orders, are completed in a timely manner and accurately recorded in the CMMS.
- Promote guest satisfaction, energy conservation, housekeeping standards, and compliance with hotel policies, brand standards, and applicable codes and regulations at all times.
Emergency and Operational Support:
- Respond to emergency situations, equipment failures, alarms, and utility interruptions, including outside normal operating hours when required.
- Support pre-opening activities, renovations, seasonal readiness, deep maintenance programs, and special engineering projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by the Director of Engineering in support of safe, efficient, and guest-focused hotel operations.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3–5 years of progressive engineering or maintenance experience in a hotel, resort, or similarly complex facility, including supervisory responsibilities.
Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire and life-safety systems, pools, spa systems, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, general building maintenance, and practical knowledge of painting, carpentry, carpet laying, wooden flooring and concrete work.
Experience with preventive maintenance programs, CMMS platforms, work order administration, and maintenance documentation.
Ability to interpret drawings, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.
Sound understanding of safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, chemical handling requirements, and applicable building, fire, and mechanical codes.
Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize work in a guest-focused environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts, as business needs require.
Physical ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, lift tools and materials, and work in mechanical spaces, outdoor areas, and variable environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma, trade certification, or formal technical training in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or building services engineering.
- Experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment.
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, teamwork, and service excellence consistent with luxury hospitality standards.
