Engineering Technician

We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our Lansing, NY team!

As our Engineering Technician, you will work closely with our engineers and senior metallurgists to ensure high-quality, timely results for clients in aerospace, medical, automotive, and energy industries.

This role involves hands-on testing, data collection, and technical support for metallurgical evaluations, including failure analysis, and material characterization.

Location: Lansing, NY

Hourly rate: $23-$26/hour

Your Challenge

  • Conduct high quality metallurgical testing evaluations demonstrating proficiency in utilization of a variety of techniques. 
  • Coordinate the input of other departments for overall testing and evaluation and IMR report requirements. 
  • Write metallurgical evaluation reports in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Communicate results, answer questions and provide service to ensure positive customer relationships. 
  • Perform all work in accordance with safe and proper procedures.
  • Interface with customers as necessary to assure that a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained.  Conduct or assist in conducting customer tours, visits and audits.
  • Exhibit & maintain a high level of metallurgical skills and knowledge of material science. 
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the field and serve as a technical resource to the lab. 
  • Maintain professional visibility through involvement in professional societies and publication in technical journals.   
  • Assist in writing procedures, training less experienced employees, and maintaining equipment and overall appearance of the lab.

What You Bring

  • Associate’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field preferred. Relevant on-the-job training and equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in a materials testing or engineering lab environment.
  • Familiarity with metallurgical testing techniques and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry systems.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently or in a team.
