DOTD Engineering Technicians play a key role in supporting technical and field operations that help maintain and improve Louisiana's public road system.Minimum QualificationsPossession of a high school diploma or GED; ORSix months of experience in sub‑professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.Job DutiesIndependently collect traffic data by setting up and removing traffic tubes, recorders, and related equipmentDevelop daily work plans for assigned monitoring locationsTravel statewide to install, maintain, and remove traffic monitoring equipmentMaintain accurate records of work performed and data collectedEnter traffic data into databases, spreadsheets, or applicationsGenerate information used for traffic reports and studiesCollect short‑session traffic volume and vehicle classification dataAssist with emergency or disaster response activities as neededPosition‑Specific DetailsCareer progression: This position may be filled as Engineering Technician 1, 2, 3, or 4 depending on qualifications and agency needs.Appointment type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment or Detail to Special Duty.CompensationEligible for premium pay of $2.00 per hour for all hours worked.
