Engineering Technician 1-4Section 19 - Research (LTRC) – Job Code: 19/50601733/EI1-E5/06.11.26-MVThis position is responsible for conducting laboratory and field research in response to DOTD objectives. Serve as lead worker for the Concrete Research Unit of the Louisiana Transportation Research Center, managing projects across geotechnical, geologic, and pavement research.Job DutiesAssist Engineers 6 and Engineering Technician DCL in development and conduct of research activities.Develop and execute work plans to accomplish research tasks and formal studies addressing complex engineering problems.Collect and analyze data in geotechnical research using equipment such as cone penetrometer, geogauge, load compression tester, electric cone penetrometer, electrical density gauge, and field inclinometer.Apply independent judgement in laboratory and field data collection.Deliver analysis in complete format ready for reporting or presentation.Evaluate new concepts and procedures through hands‑on interaction with materials, engineers, and academics.Position‑Specific DetailsAppointment Type: Provisional appointment (open to all qualified applicants), promotion, Job Appointment, or detail to special duty.Career Progression: Participation in a Career Progression Group (CPG).
