No, work will be performed on-site.What You'll DoJoin a team supporting one of the Navy's most critical airborne communications platforms. As the Engineering Technician, you will provide hands‑on technical support to the E‑6B aircraft program within the E‑6B System Integration Laboratory (SIL) at NAS Patuxent River. Working alongside engineers, system administrators, and fleet stakeholders, you will help integrate, test, troubleshoot, and sustain complex communications and network systems that enable strategic command and control capabilities for the warfighter.This role is ideal for a technically curious professional who enjoys solving complex problems in a laboratory environment and wants to contribute directly to the development and sustainment of mission‑critical defense systems.Key ResponsibilitiesGather, maintain, and organize engineering records and technical data, including test results, drawings, and configuration documentation.Perform engineering computations, analyze data, and prepare charts, graphs, and reports to support engineering activities.Assist with the development, review, and modification of engineering designs by extracting and analyzing technical data and preparing schematics, specifications, electrical drawings, and parts lists.Troubleshoot complex radio, networking, and communications systems using Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), engineering drawings, and other technical documentation.Provide technical input for the development and maintenance of training materials and IETM updates.Conduct laboratory tests and experiments, including selecting and adapting test procedures, operating specialized test equipment, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing technical reports.Identify and correct hardware and software deficiencies and implement technical controls within networked environments.Develop and deliver user training materials covering new technologies, policies, procedures, and security initiatives.Collaborate with Change, Problem, and Release Management teams to assess and address security impacts of system modifications.Perform troubleshooting, modification, fabrication, and repair of test cables and harnesses using aerospace industry‑standard tools and techniques.This description outlines the general nature and scope of the role. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.RequirementsWhat You'll BringRequired QualificationsAssociate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.Experience with both Linux and Microsoft operating systems.At least 3 years of professional experience in network administration, systems administration, engineering support, or a related technical field.Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and system schematics.Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem‑solving skills.Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with Communications Security (COMSEC) equipment management and operations.Knowledge of military communications systems, including HF, SATCOM, V/UHF, and VLF communications.Familiarity with Extremely High Frequency (EHF) communications systems.DoD Approved Baseline Certification meeting IAT Level II requirements in accordance with DoD 8570.01 (e.g., Security+ CE).Experience supporting Department of Defense laboratories, test environments, or military communications systems.Equally ImportantAbility to build positive, collaborative relationships across teams and with external partners.Effective communicator with strong verbal and written skills.Proactive, self‑directed work style with the ability to operate independently.Analytical thinker with proven problem‑solving capabilities.Highly organized, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.ASEC is committed to providing access and reasonable accommodation in its services, activities, programs, and employment opportunities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and other applicable laws.Security Clearance RequirementThis position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance.
