Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Engineering Technician will serve as the primary technical resource on the second shift, supporting equipment operations, troubleshooting, facility systems, engineering projects, and GMP-compliant manufacturing processes within a growing medical device sterilization facility. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability, supporting commercial production runs, and assisting with facility expansion initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operation, startup, and verification of sterilization equipment to ensure readiness for commercial production runs.
  • Perform equipment troubleshooting and resolve mechanical, electrical, utility, and process-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Review, complete, and maintain GMP documentation, SOPs, operational records, and equipment-related paperwork.
  • Monitor and support industrial systems including vacuum pumps, steam generators, refrigeration units, humidification systems, HVAC equipment, and facility utilities.
  • Operate and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and HMI interfaces.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for manufacturing and facility equipment.
  • Assist with engineering projects involving equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and process optimization.
  • Create and modify engineering drawings and layouts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Support facility expansion initiatives, including cold storage installations, utility upgrades, HVAC systems, electrical infrastructure, generators, and future building projects.
  • Assist with commissioning, qualification, and validation activities associated with new equipment and facility projects.
  • Cross-train with Operations and support production activities when needed, including loading commercial sterilization runs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support business objectives and maintain compliance.
  • Communicate equipment status, project updates, and operational concerns to engineering leadership.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 4+ years of experience in engineering, project engineering, manufacturing engineering, facilities engineering, or engineering technician roles.
  • Experience working within GMP, cGMP, pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, sterilization, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls.
  • Experience supporting engineering projects from planning through execution.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, sterilization, or chemical processing industries.
  • Experience with vacuum systems, steam generation systems, HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, PLCs and HMIs, facility utilities, preventative maintenance programs, capital equipment projects, and facility expansion projects.
  • Experience supporting equipment validation and qualification activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgewater, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
