About The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of engineering activities associated with gas and electric utility construction.Summary of duties and responsibilities: Assist in the design and construction of overhead and underground high voltage electrical systemsPerform AutoCAD/Microsoft drawing activities as assignedInput field data into electronic formatAssist engineering staff with the design and layout of construction printsComplete daily contract administration; attends project meetingsConducts field audits for the construction of gas and/or electrical power systemsProvides engineering information to customers; responds to inquiries and requestsDemonstrates knowledge of construction sites, the work and the feasibility of the constructionFosters a safe, productive job site environment and quality work products; encourages an attitude of safety and Cross-train in all facets of the Division, preparing to fill in for anyone absent and grow in responsibility and scope over time.Qualifications:Minimum two-year degree in applicable engineering/technical field or relevant experience in lieu of degree.Knowledge of computer drafting (AutoCAD acceptable, MicroStation preferred)Basic understanding of utility electric standards and proceduresKnowledge of electric utility equipment in the field and understanding of the electric distribution processAbility to design electric distribution systems based on field/site conditions and notes, utility infrastructure maps, and input from utility engineersExperience with contractual related project/work environment a plusProficiency level in MS Office applications (specifically Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook)Willingness to participate in a team environmentWillingness to work in an outside environmentExcellent verbal and written communicationValid driver's licenseMust be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.Physical Requirements: Must be capable of sitting/standing for extended periods while working in the field or on the computer.Able to manage physical documents, plans, and perform site visits, which may involve walking and standing for long periods of time.Travel Requirements: Local travel will be required for site visits and project meetings.Utilitra is committed to building and sustaining an equitable and inclusive work environment where diversity is expected and valued.
