Job Title: Engineering Technician
Job Description
The Electrical Engineering Technician supports the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems in a development environment. This role works closely with engineers and senior technicians to diagnose issues, execute structured test plans, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The technician independently performs electrical assemblies, conducts routine testing, documents results, and provides clear feedback to engineering to enhance product quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Independently assemble and modify electrical and electronic components and systems using schematics, diagrams, and work instructions.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting of moderately complex electrical and electronic issues in a lab, manufacturing, or development environment.
- Execute structured electrical test plans accurately and consistently, following established procedures and standards.
- Document test results clearly and thoroughly, including test conditions, measurements, observations, and any anomalies.
- Support engineers and senior technicians in diagnosing system-level issues and recommending corrective actions.
- Work with IEC, CE, and UL standards while supporting engineering teams with analysis, feedback, and compliance-related activities.
- Use electrical and mechanical measurement tools to verify system performance and identify issues.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives by providing feedback on test methods, assembly practices, and documentation.
- Support updates to technical documentation, test procedures, and work instructions as designs and processes evolve.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and other technicians to support product development, testing, and quality improvement efforts.
- Contribute to a safe, organized, and efficient lab and bench work environment.
Essential Skills
- 3-6 years of experience in electrical or electronic assembly and testing.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams independently.
- Working knowledge of electrical circuit principles and their practical application in testing and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in hands-on troubleshooting of moderately complex electrical systems.
- Experience executing structured electrical test plans in a lab or development setting.
- Experience working with IEC, CE, and UL standards.
- Ability to document test results clearly, accurately, and in an organized manner.
- Experience using electrical and mechanical measurement tools for testing and verification.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering teams and senior technicians in a collaborative environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical training in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in R&D or lab testing environments.
- Background in process improvement and continuous improvement activities.
- Comfort working with real electrical systems and hardware in a development environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to engineering to support product quality and reliability.
- Interest in growing technical depth and developing informal leadership skills over time.
Work Environment
This position operates in an on-site lab, manufacturing, and development environment, with a blend of bench work, hands-on testing, and light documentation. You will work directly with real electrical systems and hardware, using electrical and mechanical measurement tools and following IEC, CE, and UL standards. The role involves close collaboration with engineers and other technicians, frequent technical discussions, and shared problem-solving. The setting supports learning, exposure to product development and quality improvement, and offers opportunities to grow technical expertise and informal leadership skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
