Job OverviewThis position will perform technical engineering work to support senior engineer staff in preparing engineering documents, details, and reports, and ensure county construction projects are built in accordance with approved plans and comply with county regulations and other governing agencies. The individual should be familiar with interagency regulations and standards and their application to projects within the county.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSConstruction Site Visits – Travels throughout Aiken County to observe building and maintenance projects of county roads and buildings, participates in pre‑construction meetings, reviews plans, determines compliance, negotiates on site, and escalates unresolved issues to the Construction Manager or County Engineer.Stormwater Assessment – Checks management of pollutants at construction sites to ensure all required measures prevent discharge into the local water supply; addresses and remediates problems on site and refers unresolved issues to the Stormwater Manager.CAD Drafting – May update manual plans with CAD drawings, update accompanying reports, research conceptual designs, and produce presentation drawings and sketches for roads, drainage, buildings, and easement/right‑of‑way projects.Mapping – Develops GIS maps and maintains databases for Engineering/Stormwater projects using ArcGIS software.Administrative Duties – Completes various reports, including BMPs, citizen complaint reports, and other construction‑related paperwork, with minimal supervision while traveling onsite.Physical requirements include lifting, driving, traveling, stooping, standing, crawling, walking, climbing uneven terrain for extended periods, and working in occasionally poor weather conditions.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTSMinimum Level of Education: Prefer AA in Engineering, Construction, Environmental studies, or a related field.Minimum Experience: Five years in a similar environment; ability to read construction plans; knowledge of construction methods and materials; knowledge of SCDES rules and regulations.Required Qualifications: CEPSCI or ability to obtain within 6 months; experience with technical writing; valid state driver's license; NICET, ICC, IBS, ACI certifications (or equivalent) preferred.Note: The position may also be responsible for other duties as assigned.#J-18808-Ljbffr
