Engineering Associate II – Driving RequiredLocation: Austin, TexasSchedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (on site, no remote work)Compensation: $40 per hour (not negotiable). W2 employment.Essential Requirements: Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and a completed background check. No recruiters, contractors, or C2C.ResponsibilitiesAssist a licensed professional engineer in the planning, design, and execution of electrical transmission and substation projects.Prepare conceptual layout and one‑line drawings for electrical substations using the AutoCAD design suite.Collate engineering data, conduct calculations, and develop cost estimates.Draft specifications, operating instructions, and project outlines following company standards.Coordinate project reviews, implementation plans, and communication between engineering and field personnel.Conduct field analyses and performance tests at substations, power plants, and related facilities.Serve as an owner's representative for outside engineering contracts and manage project deliverables.Investigate engineering problems, develop solutions, and prepare reports on findings.QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, or a related field.Minimum one year of post‑Bachelor's engineering experience in a relevant specialty.Proficiency with AutoCAD (including Civil 3D) and Bluebeam Revu.Knowledge of engineering principles, applicable codes and standards, and project management methods.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.Skill in developing scopes of work, budgetary estimates, material lists, and requisitions.Competent with Microsoft Office 365 and document management systems.Working knowledge of electrical substation design and high‑voltage transmission systems is preferred.Work EnvironmentOffice and field settings including industrial plants, construction sites, and substations.Exposure to energized high‑voltage equipment, noise, high temperatures, and extreme weather.Potential for work at heights (up to 450 ft) and in confined spaces.Travel to project sites as required.Physical DemandsFrequent use of keyboard and mouse; extensive standing, walking, and occasional climbing.Limited repetitive hand/arm movements and occasional crouching or crawling.At least 20 % of time spent on ladder climbing and confined‑space entry.BenefitsMedical, Prescription, Dental & Vision Benefits for employees working 20 hrs per week.Health Savings Account (HSA) for employees working 20 hrs per week.Life & Disability Insurance for employees working 20 hrs per week.MetLife Voluntary Benefits.Employee Assistance Program (EAP).401(k) Retirement Savings Plan.Direct deposit and weekly e‑payroll.Referral Bonus Programs.Certification and training opportunities.Equal Opportunity EmployerYoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
