Here's the Role:

Are you interested in a role that balances field and office work? The Engineering Technician II position offers a mix of responsibilities in both areas and requires candidates with strong analytical and investigative abilities. This job is vital throughout the project lifecycle, emphasizing as-built and document handling. The technician, as a member of the as-built team, will perform site visits to substations, verify current conditions, and make sure engineering drawings are accurately composed and archived for later projects. Tasks include collecting and managing updates—such as field modifications, construction changes, and shop drawing adjustments—according to defined building and documentation methods. The technician will also take part in site visits, support quality assurance efforts, and contribute to the creation of new process improvements.

How You’ll Contribute:
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, construction documents, redlines, and other technical information. Identify discrepancies, interpret revisions, and apply technical standards to support project execution.
  • Work with the team to coordinate materials and process data before and after site visits. Ensure all information is accurately classified, updated, and accessible for ongoing and future projects.
  • Coordinate and schedule as-built activities with our engineering partners. Communicate logistics, expectations, and deliverables to engineering partners.
  • Track progress and adjust timelines as needed to accommodate changes in project scope or unforeseen site conditions.
  • Ensure all as-built activities are detailed according to established procedures, supporting accurate project records and compliance. As well as collect data on field conditions by traveling to various locations throughout our service area, including an extensive portion of rural Texas.
  • Review and archive deliverables for internal and outsourced builds. Identify discrepancies or missing information and resolve them before archiving.
How You’re Qualified:
  • Three or more years of experience interpreting technical drawings/documents and performing technical analysis; drafting using computer-aided design software, performing engineering design or other relevant experience.
  • A degree in computer-aided design, engineering technology or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license if traveling independently to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.)
How You’ll Stand Out:
  • Experience with Autocad 2026 and above.
  • Experience with document management systems such as BlueCielo Meridian, or Autodesk Vault.
  • Experience with integration and verification of LiDAR data within 2D engineering drawings.
  • Experience with importing geospatial information into Civil 3D software for accurate topographical modeling.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
