Applied Technology Services (ATS) is a multidisciplinary team of 100 engineers, scientists, and technicians. ATS has been providing technology-based innovative, high-value services to the company for 35 years. The Chemistry Services Unit provides a range of laboratory testing services in support of Power Generation (Hydro, Fossil, and Nuclear), Electrical Transmission and Distribution, and Gas Transmission and Distribution activities.
Position Summary
This position is represented by Engineers & Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.
This position has a primary focus on supporting laboratory testing of insulating oils for oil quality parameters including moisture, dielectric value, and oil typing and preparing and analyzing samples for polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) content. Laboratory work includes handling and preparing samples for analysis, data analysis, data reporting, and instrument maintenance.
Travel Required: up to 10% of the time
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the hourly rate range for this position is $59.79 to $66.18, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.

Minimum:
Desired:
Work experience with emphasis on chemical testing laboratory experience using controlled laboratory procedures.
Familiarity with ASTM standards, such as D1816, D3612, D971, D664, D924, D7647 and D5837.
A valid California driver's license or ability to obtain by first day of employment.
Work experience in an ISO 17025 or CA ELAP certified laboratory.
Currently holding or enrolled in AA Degree in the appropriate field of technology.
Applied working knowledge of statistical quality control (SQC) methodology including routine application of control-charts to assess data suitability.
Demonstrated successful history working under formal laboratory safety system.
Laboratory experience working under a formal quality system including hands on experience with running and assessing quality control samples.
Computer proficiency with experience including:
Experience using testing instruments controlled with digital interfaces or software systems.
Experience with data processing and uploading into computer systems (e.g. SAP).
Merging data files in MS Excel.
Proven ability to work safely within industrial environments.
Working experience using compressed gases and hazardous reagents.
