They are utilized in multiple bureaus and specific tasks may vary depending on the position.What you'll get to do:Assist engineers and project leads in a variety of projects to improve and maintain the City of Portland's infrastructureProvide technical support on plan review, research, technical writing, map reading, and data query and managementConduct field inspections and investigationsUse sophisticated computer software, database, GIS/mapping tools, and drafting tools to provide project/program supportProvide explanations on policies and procedures to the public to achieve understanding, cooperation, and compliance with codesProduce a variety of technical materials, correspondence, documents, plans, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules and ensure quality control and compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and policies of a variety of projects and processesPortland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT)The ADA Ramp Division provides ADA ramp design for various entities within the City of Portland. This Division provides primary design, and support, for the PBOT MO Sidewalks Section. This Division also provides primary design support for the City's Ramps by Request Program. Also, we provide design support for the Portland Water Bureau, the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services and special design requests.The Engineering Technician II position serves a role essential to the core functions of the ADA Ramp Division. BES technicians play a supportive role in plan review and analysis, stormwater facility and sewer system design, construction management, construction project management and/or system planning and modeling. BES staffs Engineering Technician II positions in the following work groups: Engineering Services, Delivery Programs, Integrated Planning, Project Management Office, Operations & Maintenance, and Technical Services.QualificationsExperience with engineering and/or architectural terminology and basic principles.Experience in clearly presenting technical information in various forms including oral, written, and graphic.Ability to coordinate small scale projects and/or provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders with knowledgeable, technical guidance and advice.Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Ability to work in a goal-oriented work environment.Additional RequirementsA valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.An Equal Opportunity Employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
