Due to a promotion the City of Keene has an exciting new opening available in the Engineering Division of the Public Works department! We are looking for a skilled Engineering Technician to assist with a variety of responsibilities including surveying designing and inspecting Public Works construction sites projects and properties; maintaining engineering records; and assisting the public regarding engineering permits and requirements and in resolving issues. The successful applicant will have a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Engineering plus one to three years professional engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. He/she will have strong skills in reading writing analyzing and interpreting general business correspondence procedure manuals and governmental regulations; presenting information effectively and responding to questions from groups of managers customers and the public; using computers including spreadsheets computer-aided-design and engineering software. Applicants will also have the ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus modern algebra and advanced statistical theory; have the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of problems; and have the ability to deal with abstract and concrete variables. A Land Surveyor License or Land Surveyor in Training is desired. The City offers employees numerous opportunities for growth and development along with a competitive pay scale. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customers

A. Education and/or Experience
Associate"s degree in Engineering plus one to three years professional engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
B. Language Skills
Ability to read; analyze; and interpret general business periodicals; professional journals; technical procedures; or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports; business correspondence; and procedure manuals. Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers; clients; customers; and the general public.
C. Computer Skills
Proficiency using word processing; spreadsheet; computer-aided-design; and engineering software
D. Mathematical Skills
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus; modern algebra; and advanced statistical theory.
E. Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas; scientific equations; graphs; musical notes; etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
F. Certificates; Licenses; Registrations
Land Surveyor License or Land Surveyor in Training; desired.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The noise level is quiet to moderate in the office but may be loud in the field. Environmental exposure varies depending on the site being inspected where there may be exposure to moving mechanical parts fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and outdoor weather conditions. Outdoor weather conditions vary depending on the season.
