Engineering Technician (AOI / AXI / SPI Focus) Job Purpose Support
manufacturing and engineering activities through the programming,
optimization, and troubleshooting of Automated Optical Inspection (AOI),
Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI), and Solder Paste Inspection (SPI)
systems. Work from PCB schematics, Gerber files, Bill of Materials
(BOMs), written and verbal descriptions, layouts, and IPC standards to
perform inspection programming and troubleshooting functions. Perform
operational tests and fault isolation on inspection equipment hardware
and software. Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy machine
malfunctions, false calls, or defect escapes. Use manufacturing, test,
development, or diagnostic equipment to calibrate and maintain
specialized PCBA inspection apparatus. Job Duties: Program, debug, and
optimize AOI, AXI, and SPI equipment for surface mount technology (SMT)
production lines Troubleshoot inspection programs to minimize false
calls and eliminate defect escapes, improving overall first-pass yield
Work closely with Process and Manufacturing Engineers on inspection
equipment setup, calibration, and preventative maintenance Ability to
read and understand PCB layouts, Gerber files, assembly drawings, and
PCBA schematics Apply knowledge of industry acceptability standards
(such as IPC-A-610) to inspection programming and defect criteria
Proficient with proprietary AOI/AXI/SPI software platforms Troubleshoot
electromechanical and software issues on inspection machines using
diagnostic tools and computer-controlled test equipment Must be a
self-starter who is able to complete tasks with little supervision
Ability to stand, sit, and bend for long periods of time while working
on the manufacturing floor Duties as assigned Education and Experience:
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field 1-2 years'
minimum in related Engineering Technical experience 4 years' minimum
experience in related Engineer Technical position in Lieu of Associates
Degree Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and
