Tesla's Energy Engineering R&D team is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Fabricator to join the team and contribute to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. The prototype fabricator will be a member of Tesla's Energy Engineering Organization supporting various energy focused programs. As a Prototype Fabricator on our team, you will be supporting the development of prototype parts, systems, and complete enclosure assemblies. Through the teams' efforts, we help enhance components and systems design by bringing conceptual ideas to the physical world.

- Weld or join metal components (Steel, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel) together using various techniques and methods including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding
- Cut, bend, and form metal components using a range of fabrication equipment such as vertical/horizontal bandsaws, lathes, drill presses, and various types of grinders
- Experience with manual and CNC hydraulic vertical press brakes and associated dies/punches
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD/CAM software programs. (Ideally - Catia V5/6, Solidworks,Fusion360, and MasterCam)
- Review technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine the requirements for metal fabrication projects
- Provide feedback to engineers, other fabricators and management on design and process improvement
- Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work along with root cause analysis and problem-solving skills for identified design flaws or needed reworks
- 3+ years work experience in fabrication
- Experience in welding (must include TIG and MIG), manual machining (Mill and Lathe) and knowledge and experience with shop tools/machines (drill press, bandsaws, belt sanders, hydraulic press, oxy-acetylene torch, hand tools etc.)
- Knowledge in sheet metal design and fabrication
- In depth knowledge of Engineering documents/CAD/Drawings
- Proficiency with measurement tools, inspection methods, and metallurgical knowledge
- Positive energy and attitude, with a passion for prototyping and fabrication
- Thrives in a fast paced constantly evolving environment with tight deadlines that requires a high level of detail

Expected Compensation
$21.96 - $45.36/hour + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
