Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description

The Engineering Technician plays a hands-on role in assembling, programming, and testing electronic control boards and cable assemblies that support cooking system integration projects. This position focuses on electronics and mechanical assembly, soldering, troubleshooting, and documentation of test results using spreadsheet applications and digital tools.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble electronic control boards and cable assemblies according to schematics and project documentation.
  • Perform precise soldering of electronic components on control boards and cables, following quality and safety standards.
  • Program and reflash electronic control boards using digital programmers, including programming and erasing Flash Memory devices through JTAG interfaces.
  • Build custom electronic cables and harnesses for development and testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot electronic and mechanical failures of control boards and wiring assemblies using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and probes.
  • Conduct mechanical assembly of electronic parts into appliances and housings, including gluing components to frames and mounting parts to metal plates.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and related technical documentation to guide assembly and troubleshooting work.
  • Access and use project and product documentation repositories via computer to locate relevant instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Find, view, and print electronic schematics in PDF format for use during assembly and testing.
  • Use spreadsheet applications to run test plans, record measurements, and complete electronics test reports accurately.
  • Follow established procedures and test plans to ensure that control boards and cable assemblies meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Collaborate with the cooking system integration team to support development, testing, and continuous improvement of electronic systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring proper handling of electronic components and tools.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with electronic assembly of control boards and cable assemblies.
  • Proficiency in electronics soldering, including through-hole and surface-mount components as applicable.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic and mechanical issues using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and probes.
  • Skill in assembling electronics and mechanical parts, including programming digital controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics accurately.
  • Experience with electrical testing procedures and documenting test results.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing project and product documentation repositories.
  • Ability to use spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Excel, to execute test plans and report results.
  • Capability to program and erase Flash Memory devices using JTAG interfaces.
  • Skill in locating, viewing, and printing electronic schematics in PDF format.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school education, with lab work in electronics considered helpful.
  • Comfort working with digital programmers and related electronic test equipment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and test procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills when diagnosing electronic and mechanical failures.
  • Effective communication skills to document findings and collaborate with engineering and integration teams.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and technologies used in electronic system integration.
Work Environment

This role operates in a technical lab and workshop setting that supports cooking system integration activities. The position follows a standard 40-hour workweek, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility on exact working hours. Work involves regular use of electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, probes, digital programmers, and computers, as well as mechanical tools for mounting and assembling components into appliances and housings. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and careful handling of electronic components, with close collaboration alongside an engineering integration team in a modern technology center.

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Joseph, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
