Location: Wilton, CT 06897

Position Overview

The Engineering Technician is responsible for building, assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and improving complex mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems within a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This role supports production, engineering testing, process improvements, quality initiatives, and new product development activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly & Testing

  • Build, assemble, and test complex mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems
  • Perform inspections, testing, and troubleshooting activities throughout the manufacturing process
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Utilize hand tools, test equipment, and computer systems to support assembly and testing operations
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues during assembly and test phases

Production & Manufacturing Support

  • Manufacture and deliver high-quality systems according to established procedures and specifications
  • Oversee products through the complete assembly-to-test process
  • Coordinate assigned activities based on production schedules and priorities
  • Maintain proper control and utilization of tools, materials, and equipment
  • Support pilot production and prototype builds as products transition into volume manufacturing

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all products meet established quality standards and specifications
  • Identify recurring manufacturing or product issues and assist in resolution efforts
  • Contribute to quality improvements and process optimization initiatives
  • Support Lean Manufacturing programs including 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
  • Assist with the development and improvement of technical documentation, processes, and production records

Teamwork & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Share knowledge and expertise with team members
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
  • Participate in departmental improvement projects and cross-functional initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Mechanical assembly and testing experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Electrical or electro-mechanical experience including wiring and basic electrical diagnostics
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Experience using hand tools and test equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry

Education & Experience

Preferred:

  • Associate"s Degree, Bachelor"s Degree, Diploma, or Certification in:
  • Engineering
  • Engineering Technology
  • Chemical Technology
  • Related Technical Discipline

OR

  • Equivalent manufacturing or technical experience

Recent graduates, manufacturing interns, and co-op candidates are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing internship or co-op experience
  • Lean Manufacturing training (5S, Kaizen, VSM, Intro to Lean, etc.)
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives
  • Cleanroom manufacturing experience
  • Experience supporting prototype or pilot production builds
  • Semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or high-tech industry experience

Training Schedule

All new hires will complete approximately 2 weeks of training and orientation:

Monday - Friday

8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

After training, employees transition to a Compressed Work Week (CWW) schedule.

Shift Options

Day Shift (D1 & D2)

6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

  • Base pay + daily overtime
  • Every other Wednesday included

D1 Schedule

  • Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

D2 Schedule

  • Week 1: Thursday, Friday, Saturday
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Night Shift (N1 & N2)

6:00 PM - 6:00 AM

  • 15% Shift Premium
  • Daily overtime
  • Every other Saturday included

N1 Schedule

  • Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • Week 2: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

N2 Schedule

  • Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilton, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
