This position is responsible for providing laboratory instruction, technical laboratory maintenance support, and instructional assistance within Engineering Technologies programs. This position also supports the operation and maintenance of instructional laboratories and resources, college equipment and college vehicles. This position is 12 months, full-time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
TEACHING AND LAB INSTRUCTION
LABORATORY, EQUIPMENT, AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT
a. Assuming reasonable responsibility for the security, maintenance, operation, and inventory of assigned laboratory equipment, vehicles, tools, and instructional resources.
b. Maintaining knowledge of safety practices applicable to Engineering Technologies instructional laboratories.
c. Assisting in the development, implementation, and enforcement of laboratory safety practices and procedures.
d. Ordering, maintaining, organizing, and inventorying laboratory supplies, parts, materials, tools, equipment, and stockroom resources.
e. Scheduling maintenance, inspections, and servicing of Surry Community College vehicles and equipment as needed.
f. Assisting faculty with laboratory preparation, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and instructional support activities.
g. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory and work environment.
h. Participating in staff development and technical training activities to enhance job performance and maintain current industry knowledge.
i. Maintaining knowledge of Engineering Technologies program operations and college resources in order to provide appropriate assistance to students, faculty, and visitors.
j. Performing other job-specific duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering Technologies or Chief Academic Officer.
COLLEGE SERVICE
a. Participating in activities that promote the welfare and advancement of the College. These activities may include committee service, accreditation support, recruitment and marketing efforts, student organization support, and other institutional initiatives.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
a. Participating in mandatory institutional professional development activities.
b. Participating in professional development activities related to Engineering Technologies, technical instruction, laboratory management, safety, and emerging industry trends.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in field, or related field, of division served; experience/proficiency in the use of integrated software (Microsoft Word and Excel), effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate and prioritize office duties
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an educational office setting with strong technical knowledge.
