Description
Iowa Western Community College is seeking adjunct English instructors to join our team. The ideal candidate holds a master's degree in English (or a closely related field) with at least 12 graduate credit hours in English and is prepared to teach a variety of English courses in multiple modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, live virtual, and online asynchronous. Iowa Western uses Canvas as its learning management system.
Our current instructional need is for faculty who can teach daytime, face-to-face courses, in addition to online asynchronous sections. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to student success and an engaging, student-centered teaching approach.
Adjunct faculty may teach a mix of face-to-face and asynchronous online courses each semester based on enrollment and departmental need. The college uses common assessments and shared textbooks for courses of the same type to support consistency and instructional quality, and primary course shells are available for some classes.

Qualifications
To teach arts and science courses:
Master's degree is required
At least 12 graduate credit hours in the discipline (English)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings and with diverse groups of people including co-workers, students, business contacts and at various levels from front-line to administration
·Strong organizational skills including the ability to multitask, to meet deadlines, to maintain and access paper and electronic files, to produce error-free final products, and to manage time and output
Excellent customer service skills
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people
Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer-oriented team
Professional in communication, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness
Positive attitude
Self-starter with the ability to perform with little or no direct supervision
Ability to pass a background check
Physical Demands
The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
Ability to drive company owned or personal vehicle.
