Marinette School District is seeking a qualified, passionate individual to join our team as a English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher supporting our K-12 English Language Learners. The position is responsible for providing instruction and evaluation to improve English proficiency listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as serve as a resource to the district for English language concerns.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide ELL instruction to students K-12.
- Administer required language proficiency and academic achievement tests for determining placement for students, along with ongoing monitoring of student progress
- Develop language acquisition support plans (ELL plans) for all ELL students and work with classroom teachers to implement plans.
- Serve as a resource to classroom teachers to assist ELL students achieve academically in the classroom.
- Use language teaching strategies to increase English proficiency for students who speak a language other than English at home.
- Advocate for the needs of the ELL students.
- Evaluate the language needs of students whose families speak a language other than English at home and recommend appropriate language support.
- Administer a language screener to students for whom a language barrier is impeding their academic success.
- Communicate language needs and progress of the ELLs with classroom teachers, administrators and families.
- Direct and support ELL Educational Associates to ensure ongoing, relevant supports for ELL students.
- Provide bilingual instruction and support to students K-12.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- Valid WI DPI License in English as Second Language (1395)
- Valid WI DPI License in Bilingual-Bicultural Education (1023)
