Job Description:

The ESL Program at SUNY Orange is widely recognized throughout Orange County for offering quality instruction on multiple levels. The program is an academically based adult education program. SUNY Orange Plus is seeking an ESL instructor to teach a Level Three ESL class at the Middletown campus. This position is for the fall semester, with classes beginning on August 24th, 2026.

This is a part-time evening position requiring instruction two evenings (Monday/Wednesday) per week from 6:00-9:00 PM.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of three years of experience teaching adults in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of assessment techniques to determine reading, writing, speaking and listening skills
  • Knowledge of material used to teach Grammar
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Certification in ESL
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An advanced degree in ESOL
  • TESOL certification
  • Extensive experience teaching multiple ESL levels
