Qualifications:

  • Valid English as a Second Language (#395) teacher license through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education
  • Demonstrate proficiency in implementing best practice strategies to support multilingual learners
  • Strong and effective leadership skills in working collaboratively and effectively with other professionals
  • Possessing the ability to coach teachers in supporting student growth in WIDA's English Language Development standards.
  • Ability to support staff through research-based instructional techniques, methods, materials, and learning principles to guide the learning process toward achieving language development goals
  • Have knowledge of the evaluation process and multilingual student support systems (MLSS)

Job Goal:

To collaborate with and offer ongoing support to teachers, parents, and other staff in the design, implementation, and monitoring of multilingual learner language development instructional and intervention strategies. They will assist in coordinating and monitoring building-level ML/EL programming to ensure program improvement and compliance with all procedural requirements of state and federal law governing language development processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide parents and staff with language-rich instructional strategies to support students' progress with ELL plans in all educational settings. Ensure the least restrictive, most appropriate educational program for all students.
  • Support each building level data and instructional teams to interpret, analyze and improve data procedures and provide instructional recommendations.
  • Assist in planning and implementing push-in and coteaching educational activities and language improvement strategies for inclusive educational programs. Assist in developing, reviewing the final draft of, and providing feedback to staff regarding ELL learning plans (ELLevation).
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving and progress-monitoring techniques related to designing and implementing child-specific instruction and intervention strategies.
  • Assist staff with planning and implementing interventions for evaluations of significant learning disability (SLD) and participate in evaluation meetings as an ELD specialist.
  • Support on-site and offsite ACCESS testing and work with district-level staff to analyze, interpret and create goals to improve data use and instructional practices.
  • Meet routinely with school-level leadership to organize, analyze, reflect, and plan for school improvement. Act as a resource for school principals.
  • Attend DPI, CESA 2, WIDA, and EL consortium meetings and training opportunities in a wide range of areas in order to stay current with best and new interventions, assessments, and English language improvement strategies.
