Annual Pay Scale - $59,980 to $75,730(based on MA teacher license level)  

New Hire Sign on Bonus $10,000 for fully licensed applicants /$5,000 for applicants requiring a licensure waiver! 

 

 

The English Language Arts Teacher provides instruction to secondary school students in a structured special education environment. This role supports students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development through individualized instruction aligned with Massachusetts curriculum frameworks. The teacher works collaboratively with clinical, vocational, and support staff to create a safe, engaging, and skill-focused learning environment that prepares students for long-term success.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
  • Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning styles and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Integrate trauma-informed strategies and differentiated instruction into daily lessons
  • Design creative, inclusive lessons that build academic skills and student confidence
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Participate in IEP and ISP (Individual Service Plan) meetings with caregivers and specialists
  • Track and document student progress through regular assessments and reporting
  • Foster a structured, respectful, and nurturing classroom culture
  • Apply positive behavior support strategies in accordance with CPI and agency guidelines
  • Maintain safety, order, and emotional security for all students
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians, case managers, and direct care staff to support holistic student development
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to school-wide planning
  • Pursue ongoing professional development to meet state and program standards

    Additional Responsibilities

  • Administer annual standardized assessments as required
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development
  • Perform physical activities including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or assisting students as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field such as psychology or human services required
    Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with students within the assigned age range
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer-based systems including Microsoft Word, internet-based IEP platforms, lesson planning systems, and report writing tools
  • Must hold or be eligible for a Massachusetts Preliminary, Initial, or Professional license in English Language Arts (6–12); waiver support may be available
  • Applicants not currently licensed must meet waiver eligibility, apply for licensure, and obtain licensure post hire in accordance with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Valid driver’s license required
