English Language Arts Teacher - High School

License(s): English (1300) GR 6-12 required, Reading Teacher (1316) preferred

The Beaver Dam Unified School District seeks a full time English Language Arts Teacher to serve our High School students, beginning employment with the start of the 2026-27 school year. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to serve students in a well-paying, highly collaborative, and progressive district. A candidate who has experience with Advanced Placement courses is preferred but not required.

While participating in active and cooperative learning activities, students will master essential reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills needed to communicate effectively in their daily lives. Explicit reading skills such as summarizing, inferencing, and paraphrasing will be taught within the context of historical and science fiction, poetry, drama, and non-fiction, such as memoirs, arguments, and scientific articles. Writing lessons and activities will encourage students to reflect on themselves and their lives while mastering the Six Traits of Writing. Reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills will be taught through project based units differentiated to meet the needs of every child. Students will see a connection between reading and writing through many performance tasks and will learn to cite textual evidence to support their ideas.

This position requires a dynamic teacher with the ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. Candidates who are proficient in the use of technology and interested in serving as an advisor or extracurricular and coaching positions are valued.

Candidates must be student-centered and have the ability to:

• Plan and deliver effective instruction that regularly integrates technology, engages students, enhances student learning experiences, and provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
