English Language Arts Teacher

Job Description
A school district in Federal Heights, Colorado is seeking a qualified English Language Arts Teacher for a full‑time, school‑based contract. This position serves middle school and/or high school students and focuses on developing literacy, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills. Candidates who are passionate about student achievement, engaging instruction, and fostering a love of reading and writing are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with Colorado academic standards
- Develop and deliver lessons in reading comprehension, literature, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and communication
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Assess student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education staff, and families
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and documentation
- Participate in parent conferences, staff meetings, and professional development activities
- Support students in developing critical thinking, analytical, and writing skills
Qualifications
- Active Colorado English Language Arts teaching license required
- Appropriate secondary English Language Arts endorsement preferred based on assignment
- Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and district clearances
- Licensing and credentialing support may be available for eligible candidates
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Education, or a related field
Experience
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle or high school level preferred
- New graduates with appropriate credentials are encouraged to apply

- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Knowledge of literacy development and evidence‑based instructional strategies

Work Hours
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Approximately 37–40 hours per week
