In one class period, the English Teacher will support adult scholars taking multiple courses—including accelerated offerings—across the following content areas: Reading/RLA, English I, English II, English III, and English IV. The role requires flexibility and adaptability in planning and delivering instructional strategies to meet adult scholars' needs. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Classroom Management

Maintain a positive, structured learning environment for all scholars. Use restorative practices to support the academic and behavioral growth of scholars.

    Collaboration, Support, and Guidance

Work closely with colleagues, leadership, and facility staff to ensure delivery of a well-rounded educational program. Participate in team meetings to discuss scholar progress, share strategies, and address academic and/or behavioral concerns. Communicate regularly with staff about scholar needs and achievements.

    Compliance and Reporting

Ensure high-quality instructional materials comply with organization, facility, district, and federal education regulations. Prepare reports (lesson plans, assessments, progress reports, gradebook, etc.) on time and in accordance with organizational guidelines.

    Other Duties as Assigned

Tasks that may not directly align with your job description but are vital and serve to maintain a safe and effective teaching and learning environment for scholars and staff.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in education or subject field (required)
    • Must have or be eligible for initial certification by OSSE in the appropriate content area (must obtain initial certification within 1 year of employment)
