The Neenah Joint School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate full-time (1.0 FTE) English Teacher (Grades 7 & 8) to join the team at Neenah Middle School. The position is set to begin on August 25, 2026.

As an English Teacher, you will support the instructional process by teaching students in the classroom and other designated areas, designing and delivering both group and individual lessons within the established curriculum, and collaborating with fellow educators, professional staff, and administrators. You will also be responsible for providing targeted support to at-risk students, maintaining communication with parents or guardians regarding student progress, and ensuring the overall success of your students.

This role operates under limited supervision, following established practices and methods, and includes some responsibilities for managing budget expenditures and utilizing resources from other areas. Your work will have the potential to significantly impact on the overall educational experience of students.

Job Details:

  • Develop and administer assessments to gauge student competency and create individualized learning plans.
  • Implement specialized instructional strategies and interventions for at-risk students to ensure academic success.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress, expectations, achievements, and improvement strategies.
  • Evaluate student progress toward learning objectives, provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborate with other educators, staff, and community resources to enhance student outcomes and support the school improvement plan.
  • Counsel students, especially those at risk, to improve performance, behavior, and personal issues.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Direct paraprofessionals, student teachers, volunteers, and student workers to support effective classroom instruction.
  • Teach students within a structured course of study to promote academic success.
  • Manage student behavior to create a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Monitor student safety in various school environments such as classrooms, cafeterias, hallways, and during field trips.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve instructional practices, especially in support of at-risk students.
  • Prepare written materials such as grades, lesson plans, attendance, and other records to document student progress.
  • Report incidents (e.g., fights, abuse, harassment) as required to ensure student safety and compliance with school policies.
  • Respond to emergency situations to ensure safety and direct appropriate action.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to address any concerns or issues related to student progress.
  • Assist other teachers in implementing curriculum and individualized plans for students, with a focus on supporting at-risk learners.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to contribute to the effective functioning of the department.

COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

Cognitive efforts are required to prioritize multiple competing tasks and interruptions. Must be able to focus on the details of completing tasks accurately and in a timely manner. Must be able to answer inquiries while maintaining confidentiality of information. This position requires individual judgment and initiative.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • License: Must hold or be eligible for Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) certification in English and in the appropriate grade level.
