Columbus High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic High School English Teacher to join our team beginning in the 2026-27 school year. This is a full-time position located at Columbus High School in Columbus, WI. Experience teaching either AP English Literature & Composition or AP English Language & Composition is a plus, but is not required. The candidate hired for this position will be responsible for teaching both AP English Literature & Composition and AP English Language & Composition in 2026-27.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Teaching a range of high school English courses, which may expand all grade levels and abilities from our beginning freshman to our advanced upperclassmen

  • Developing and implementing engaging, standards-aligned curriculum and lesson plans.

  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.

  • Assessing student progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.

  • Collaborating with the English department and other faculty members to enhance the overall educational experience.

  • Supervising student activities, clubs, or co-curricular programs as needed.

  • Attending and participating in professional development opportunities and faculty meetings

  • Communicating effectively with parents/guardians regarding student performance and classroom activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in English Language Arts or a related field.

  • Valid Wisconsin teaching license in High School English (or eligibility to obtain one).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in English Language instruction and classroom management.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with technology integration in the classroom is preferred.

Interviews are anticipated to take place on Tuesday, June 9th.
