    Contract Principal Electrical Engineer Electronic Hardware Development







    Client is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer Contractor to support electronic hardware development for medical device systems .







    The contractor will work with Client engineering teams and external development partners to support design, development, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and release activities for electronic hardware used in patient monitoring and related medical device applications.







    This contractor role is intended for a highly experienced electrical engineer who can contribute independently , collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams , and provide strong technical support in a regulated medical device environment.





    Contractor Responsibilities:






    • Support electronic hardware design and development activities for medical device systems.








    • Work with Client internal teams and external resources to execute design and development activities, including schematic capture, PCB layout support, testing, troubleshooting, and release of electronic hardware.








    • Provide expertise in analog , digital, and mixed-signal circuit design, including optoelectronics, sensors, and front-end signal conditioning circuits for medical device and biomedical applications.








    • Apply electrical engineering and product development experience to support Client methods, feasibility work, and new concepts for patient monitoring products.








    • Analyze data, draw conclusions, and prepare technical reports, summaries, and presentations as requested by Client.








    • Support development of electronic hardware requirements, system designs, design documentation, agency testing for IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2, troubleshooting of field or design issues, and medical device design control deliverables.








    • Support BLE antenna integration and wireless performance evaluation for body-worn medical applications, including antenna placement, matching network considerations, PCB layout constraints, and effects of enclosure, adhesive stack-up, battery, and body proximity.








    • Assist with RF measurements and verification activities such as VNA measurements, antenna tuning, range testing, BLE link performance checks, and documentation of antenna design trade-offs and test results.







    Minimum Contractor Qualifications:






    • Bachelor s degree in engineering or a scientific field, with 6 10 years of relevant experience in industry or a combination of industry and education.








    • Experience with front-end analog signal conditioning circuits.








    • Experience with analog sensors used to measure temperature, pressure, flow, or similar parameters.










    • Experience writing requirements, design documentation, test protocols, test reports, scientific reports, and technical papers.








    • Experience with BLE, 2.4 GHz ISM-band wireless design, antenna integration, RF layout review, antenna matching, or compact wireless product development.








    • Proficiency with electrical engineering design tools used for printed circuit board development; Altium experience preferred.








    • Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and CPLDs.






    Preferred Contractor Qualifications :






    • Advanced degree in engineering or scientific field or equivalent experience.








    • Experience in medical device product development and design controls.








    • Experience supporting agency testing, EMC testing, and electrical safety testing for medical device systems.








    • Experience with body-worn, wearable, biosensor, or patient monitoring products using BLE or similar low-power wireless communication.








    • Familiarity with antenna detuning caused by human-body proximity, flexible circuits, small ground planes, enclosures, adhesives, and other mechanical integration constraints common to body-worn medical devices .









    The contractor will be expected to work on-site to support collaboration with Client engineering teams, laboratory work, hardware troubleshooting, testing, and project execution. Specific work location, schedule, and engagement terms will be defined separately.







    The contractor must comply with applicable Client policies, site requirements, confidentiality obligations, safety procedures, and regulatory expectations associated with supporting medical device development activities.







    Engagement Overview:




    This contractor engagement will support Client s electronic hardware development efforts by providing specialized electrical engineering expertise , technical documentation, design support, troubleshooting, and test support for medical device programs .







    The ideal contractor will be able to quickly integrate with project teams, work independently on assigned tasks, communicate technical findings clearly , and deliver high-quality engineering work in support of project milestones.








    Additional details regarding scope, duration, deliverables, rate*** schedule, and contracting arrangements should be defined in the applicable statement of work or contractor agreement.
