The Role

This position will report to: Sr. Manager of Winemaking.

JOB STATEMENT:

The Enologist supports the winemaking team across all stages of production, from grape to bottle. This role drives cross-functional coordination throughout the winery, reviews quality specifications, and ensures that all wines consistently meet established stylistic standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Support all phases of winemaking, from harvest through bottling, with a focus on quality and consistency
  • Coordinate laboratory analyses, monitor results, and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Collaborate with planning, lab, and production teams on blend and production activities
  • Prepare and manage process orders to ensure timely completion of wine movements
  • Oversee lab cleanliness and lab solution preparation
  • Assist with inventory management and prioritize wine process orders to support overall wine quality and integrity
  • Assist with all harvest operations, including trials, sampling, fermentation management, etc.
  • Design and execute experiments and lab trials to improve wine quality
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards (TTB, FDA, ISO9001, HACCP, GMP)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Enology, Viticulture, Chemistry, Food Science, or science related field
  • Interest and/or experience with both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Knowledge of experimental design, including conducting lab trials, analyzing and reporting results related to wine quality
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Physical:
    • Ability to sit, walk or stand for extended periods of time
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work at heights of up to 50 feet
  • Other:
    • Ability to work extended hours and/or holidays during harvest season and/or high demand bottling seasons
    • Proficiency in using standard computer and office equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Limited noise level
  • Indoor & Outdoor climate

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
  • Side shield safety glasses, safety vest, head/ear protection and proper footwear when in production facility.

HOURS AND WORKDAYS

1St Shift 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime and additional workdays may be required during harvest season based on business needs.
