About the Job

The Enrollment Management Data Analyst collects, cleans, and analyzes student data - recruitment, admissions, financial aid, and retention - to drive strategic decisions. They build dashboards, predict enrollment trends, and maintain data integrity in systems like Slate, facilitating informed decisions for marketing, student success, and fiscal planning.

Location and Work environment:

Position is located within the Enrollment Management/Admissions office areas on the Rochester campus. The position is in-person on the Rochester campus, with limited flexibility.

Work Schedule:

Position is Monday through Friday, normal campus office hours. Some weekends and nights will be required for recruitment events or special projects.

Expected Contributions:

This role acts as a primary bridge between institutional data and two key teams: University leadership and the Admissions Recruiters. The incumbent will be the primary owner and resource for complex internal data analyses, predictive modeling, leadership enrollment reporting, and ad hoc data requests. The Data Analyst will provide the analyses, visualizations, and cadence reporting for both the tactical and strategic decision making in recruitment marketing, recruiter practices, and enrollment planning.

This position contributes to the development and maintenance of reporting tools, dashboards, and analyses that inform strategy across enrollment management and the campus.

Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Primary Responsibilities

Assessment and Advanced Analytics (40%)

Conduct in-depth, complex statistical analyses and diagnostic analytics to support leadership decision-making, cyclical enrollment planning, and the seasonal efforts of Admissions counselors.

Design, develop, and implement KPI dashboards and performance metrics to track progress toward recruitment and retention goals

Clean, blend, and restructure large, unstructured, or disparate datasets using tools like SQL Developer, R, SPSS, Python, or Excel.

Predictive Modeling and Forecasting (15%)

Analyze student data and outcomes to identify likelihood to apply, to enroll, and to remain at the university.

Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries to extract multi-dimensional datasets from PeopleSoft and Slate systems.

Data Visualization & Documentation: (15%)

Design, publish, and maintain interactive business intelligence dashboards utilizing Tableau to democratize data access and display insights clearly for both internal and external stakeholders.

Translate complex statistical findings and research methodologies into clear, accessible, and actionable narrative briefs or presentations for non-technical stakeholders across the campus.

Project Management & CRM Operations (20%)

Manage a comprehensive project schedule to ensure all recurring, ad hoc, and sudden data requests are executed accurately, efficiently, and in priority.

Collaborate with campus and university level teams to develop and maintain standardized business processes, data dictionaries, and workflows to ensure business continuity and accurate insights.

Represent Enrollment Management on the appropriate campus and system-wide committees, campus task forces, and workgroups.

5% Data Governance & System Technology:

Conduct data audits, ensure compliance with FERPA/GDPR regulations, and maintain accurate records.

Work closely and contribute to system-wide technology groups including Slate and People Soft groups.

5% Vendor Relations:

Work with vendors, services, and platforms to maintain appropriate data sharing for both compliance, and accuracy. Ensure timely exports and imports with these vendors and services.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field with 2 years of experience in data analytics, with higher education enrollment management or admissions data preferred, or

Master's degree in a relevant field

OR A combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six years.

Proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel; experience with CRM systems (Slate) and visualization tools (Tableau/Power BI).

Strong ability to manipulate complex datasets and present findings to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior college admission experience

Presentation and public speaking skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Ability and desire to learn and use new software applications

Pay Range: $62,000 - $72,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
